The event is the annual public expression of Black Vines, a Bay Area-rooted cultural platform. It is not a winery or a promise that every ticket includes every Black Vines program. Its full title is Black Vines Toast to Black Wineries and Diverse Art; shorter searches should still preserve art and culture.
The format connects guests with wine businesses alongside art, music, food and social exchange. Winery owner, brand owner, grower, winemaker, importer and person pouring may all be different people.
- Fern A. Stroud: founder and central organizer. LP has a relationship with Stroud, but no published interview; that cannot substitute for attributable reporting.
- Black Vines: the year-round platform. Membership and other programs are not necessarily included in the Toast ticket.
- Berkeley and Oakland: the 2026 edition used Berkeley’s Ciel Creative Space; the 2027 announcement identifies only the Berkeley/Oakland area. Adjacent cities are not interchangeable venues.
- Featured wineries and artists: each edition has its own roster. Only the organizer’s current lineup should support participation claims, and an appearance in 2026 should not be carried into 2027.
