The Bayou Classic is both a Southwestern Athletic Conference football rivalry and a multiday gathering of students, alumni, families and fans. Grambling State University’s Tigers and Southern University’s Jaguars anchor the event. Their marching bands—the World Famed Tiger Marching Band and the Human Jukebox—are central cultural participants, not optional decoration.

The football game is the competitive center, but the Friday Battle of the Bands is a separate headline event. Thanksgiving travel can create limited flights, trains and hotel inventory. Book refundable transportation and lodging only after the game and venue align across official sources.
